Identity

109573331-2Do you know who you are and what drives you? Are you the same person you were 5 years ago? 10 years ago? 20 years ago? Are you happy with who you are now or do you long to be someone else? Are you the person today that you expected to be when you were a child? What were some of the turning points in your life? Do you desire to go back to a previous age? If so, what age and why?

There are no right or wrong answers to any of these questions. Everything in life is a personal choice. However, every now and then I find it useful to look at my life and see if I am in alignment with who I want to be or whether I need to shift my course for the future. Looking at the past can help, if I don’t judge it and dwell on it.

As an introverted child. I imagined myself possibly living in the country and writing books under a tree That was at the beginning of the personal computer age – well before laptops and smartphones. I can still myself as a writer someday, but my writing for now is limited to these blogs. I’m now living on an acre of land on the outskirts of town – the closest to country living that I’ve ever been.

I never expected to become an energy healer or open up a healing center, or doing any of the many things I am doing now. I thought about teaching in college, but couldn’t see myself being in charge of other people because I prefer to work as a team with others. I thought about becoming a therapist, but at the time didn’t think I could distance myself from everyone’s personal problems.

My life took a sharp turn when I was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid over 20 years ago. I look back now and can’t recognize the old me in the person I am now. I have no desire to go to back to who I was. Everything that happened to me was necessary to shape who I am today, and I am grateful for it. It’s amazing how your life can shift when you allow yourself to open to the infinite possibilities that you are offered.

Do you feel challenged doing this? Do you have judgments about who you are now, who you used to be, or other people? Is there is something in your life that isn’t working for you? If so, come see how Songbird can help you transform your life.

Our Flock Nights this month focus on awareness. March 11 is Personal Transformation through Awareness and Dreaming with Niki Orietas and Leo van Warmerdam. Like me, they studied Toltec Dreaming with don Miguel Ruiz, author of the Four Agreements. It was my studies with Miguel Ruiz that changed my life. Success through Collaboration with Chance Massaro helps us see the differences ways we each learn that can give us more confidence in communication, collaboration, and cooperation.

Come to one of these or one of our other many offerings at Songbird for support in clearing physical, mental, and emotional pain that stands in the way of living your dreams.
